The Nelahozeves Visitor Center cuts heating costs by a third—visitors love the cozy warmth.

The Nelahozeves Visitor Center

Located in the birthplace of Antonín Dvořák, the Nelahozeves Information Center had long struggled with excess humidity, mold, and high heating expenses due to insufficient heating. One year ago, they turned to an innovative solution—Namiwell infrared panels. Since then, electricity consumption has decreased by 33%, and the indoor environment has seen a marked improvement.

Not long ago, the Nelahozeves Information Center was facing possible demolition. Following a renovation between 2018 and 2019, the former train station building reopened the next year as an information center with a café—though it came with high electricity demands.

Heating was originally provided by electric space heaters. From February 2023 to February 2024, the building’s total electricity consumption reached around 20.8 MWh. “When estimating heating consumption with electric heaters, it’s common to assume that heating accounts for 60 to 80 percent of total energy use. Even taking the lower end—60%—we estimate that heating alone used about 12 MWh,”explains Miroslav Odložilík of Namitech.

In February 2024, Namiwell infrared panels were installed, along with a dedicated electricity meter to monitor their usage. Over the next 12 months (through February 2025), the heating system consumed just 7.9 MWh—resulting in an energy savings of at least 33%.

A Shift from Inefficient to Modern Heating

The initiative to install the innovative Namiwell infrared heating system was proposed by the mayor. The entire process—from the initial idea to full implementation—spanned roughly a year. During that time, the team focused on identifying the most suitable solution for the historic 100-year-old building and its structural specifics.

“The installation itself was fast, clean, and didn’t require any major construction work. Just a few holes in the ceiling and the panels were in place. Namitech supported us in selecting the right model and configuring the system correctly,” says Helena Kubicová, head of the Nelahozeves Information Center.

Clear Results: Goodbye Mold. Hello Comfort.

One year in, it’s clear the upgrade was a smart move—the space is now heated evenly and with greater efficiency. “The mold is completely gone. When we adjust the thermostat, the change is immediate. It’s a comforting, radiant warmth that you feel right away,” say staff at the center.

The infrared panels operate almost continuously, except on Mondays when the center is closed. On Sundays, the temperature is lowered to around 17–18 °C. After approximately 36 hours, the five installed panels are able to restore a comfortable 21 °C in just 30 minutes.

The team is equally satisfied with the aesthetics. “The design is minimal and unobtrusive. The panels are silent and don’t interfere with the space—they’ve blended seamlessly into the interior,” notes Helena Kubicová.

With the installation of modern Namiwell infrared panels, the Nelahozeves Information Center has not only resolved long-standing issues with damp and mold, but also created a more comfortable, healthier environment for both visitors and staff—while significantly reducing energy consumption.
